We have the power to think,
We have the power to aspire,
We have the power to dream,
We truly live in an ambitious nation.
We have the freedom to speak our language,
We have the freedom to live our life,
We can walk with our head held high,
We are truly a free nation.
We have the freedom to complain about our nation,
We have the freedom to be cynical about its inadequacies,
We have the freedom to take our decisions,
We are truly an expressive nation.
A nation whose father is a Gujarati,
Whose national anthem was written by a Bengali,
Whose first Cricket Captain was a Telugu,
Whose most iconic film star is an Uttar Pradeshi,
Such a diverse social fabric, we are a blessed nation.
Millions who practice different religions,
Millions who speak different languages,
Millions who belong to different castes,
Live miraculously harmoniously here, we are truly a great
nation.
At the ripe young age of 69,
This country has got many positives that make it shine,
Many of its embellishments, almost divine,
Happy Independence day, India.
